THOUGHT PROVOKING TIMELESS WORDS OF WISDOM

THE VALUE OF A MOMENT

To  realize
The value of a  sister/brother
Ask  someone
Who doesn't have one.

To  realize
The value of ten  years:
Ask a  newly
Divorced couple.

To  realize
The value of  four years:
Ask a  graduate.

To  realize
The value of one  year:
Ask a student  who
Has failed a  final exam.

To  realize
The value of  nine months:
Ask a mother who  gave birth to a  stillborn.

To  realize
The value of one  month:
Ask a  mother
Who has given  birth to
A premature  baby.

To  realize
The value of one  week:
Ask an editor of  a weekly  newspaper.

To  realize
The value of one  minute:
Ask a  person
Who has missed  the train, bus or  plane.

To  realize
The value of  one-second:
Ask a  person
Who has survived an  accident.

Time waits for  no one.

Treasure every  moment you have.

You will  treasure it even more  when
You can share it  with someone  special.

To realize the  value of a friend or family  member:

LOSE  ONE.

The origin of  this letter is  unknown,
But it brings  good luck to everyone who passes it  on.

Remember....

Hold on  tight to the ones you  love!

DESIDERATA
GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. AS FAR as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. SPEAK your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. AVOID loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit. IF you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. ENJOY your achievements as well as your plans. KEEP interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. EXERCISE caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. BUT let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. BE yourself! ESPECIALLY, do not feign affection! NEITHER be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. TAKE kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth! NURTURE strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. BUT do not distress yourself with imaginings. MANY fears are born of fatique and loniliness. BEYOND a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. YOU are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. AND whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. THEREFORE be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations! IN the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. WITH all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world! BE cheerful! STRIVE TO BE HAPPY!

SERENITY PRAYER

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS
I CANNOT CHANGE,
THE COURAGE TO CHANGE
THE THINGS I CAN,
THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!

TWO DAYS

TWO DAYS There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept from fear and apprehension. One of these days is yesterday, with it's mistakes and cares, it's faults and blunders, it's aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is beyond recall. The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow, with it's possible adversities, it's burdens, it's large promises, and perhaps its poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn. This leaves only one day - today. Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burden of those two awful eternity's, yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives us mad. It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday or the dread of what tomorrow may bring. Let us therefore do our best to live but one day at a time.

JUST A DOG

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up,
it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't
understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved
for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours
have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel
slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in
those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort
and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and
pure unbridled joy.

"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better
person.

Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look
longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a
dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the
fond
memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog", but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man or woman."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog", just smile -- because
they "just don't understand."

A DOG'S PRAYER

By Beth Norman Harris

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me.. do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside … for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. . .and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. . . though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land… for you are my god. . . and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest. . .

And. I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

so here goes...Prov. 29:25
You never know

when God is going to bless you!!

Good things happen when

you least expect them to !!!!!!!!

Change the number in the subject box

when you forward it by adding one!!!

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day,

I thank You for my being able to see

and to hear this morning.

I'm blessed because You are

a forgiving God and

an understanding God.

You have done so much for me

and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything

I have done, said or thought

that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe

from all danger and harm.

Help me to start this day

with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.

Let me make the best of each and every day

to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind

that I can accept all things.

Let me not whine and

whimper

over things I have no control over.
And give me the best response

when I'm pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I can't pray,

You listen To my heart.

Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I

may be

a blessing to others.

Keep me strong that I may help the weak...

Keep me uplifted that I may have

words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost

and can't find their way.

I pray for those that are misjudged

and misunderstood.

I pray for those who

don't know You intimately.

I pray for those that will delete this

without sharing it with others

I pray for those that don't believe.
But I thank You that I believe

that God changes people and

God changes things.

I pray for all my sisters and brothers.

For each and every family member

in their households.

I pray for peace, love and joy

in their homes; that they are out of debt

and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this

knows there is no problem, circumstance,

or situation greater than God.

Every battle is in Your hands for You to

fight.

I pray that these words be received

into the hearts of every eye that sees it

in Jesus' name. Amen!

THE GINGHAM DRESS

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston, and walked timidly without an appointment in to the Harvard University President's outer office.

The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge.

'We'd like to see the president,' the man said softly. 'He'll be busy all day,' the secretary snapped. 'We'll wait,' the lady replied.

For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't, and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted.

'Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they'll leave,' she said to him!

He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, and he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office.

The president, stern faced and with dignity, strutted to ward the couple.
The lady told him, 'We had a son who attended Harvard for one year.

He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus.'

The president wasn't touched. He was shocked. 'Madam,' he said, gruffly, 'we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.'

'Oh, no,' the lady explained quickly. 'We don't want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.'

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed, 'A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard.'

For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now.

The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, 'Is that all it costs to start a university? Why don't we just start our own?'

Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California where they established the university that bears their name, Stanford University, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.
